Dreaming Right is a collection of writing about how to live. It hopes to be simple, artful, and insightful. And useful. It draws deeply from various wells:
- Books – My life has been changed by books, particularly the kind of books that you might call “self-help”. What Color is Your Parachute?, Getting Things Done, The NA Step Working Guides, The 4-hour Workweek, and The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching.
- Blogs – These days it’s not self-help. It’s personal development, life-hacking, productivity, lifestyle design. The internet is overflowing with different flavors of free advice on how to live. I have only just begun to dip into the vast waters of the personal development blogosphere. Zen Habits, Lifehacker, Scott H Young, Steve Pavlina, Put Things Off…way too many.
- Programs – I have been involved, to varying degrees, in several programs designed to improve my well-being. I’d like to tell you about them. Thirty-Day Nephalism, Narcotics Anonymous, Enterprise for Equity Business Development, and 5 years of college. Guess where I learned the most.
About the Author
My name is Matt Kreiling. It doesn’t sound quite right when I say I am 32.
I’d rather explain things than explain myself.
In college I studied a lot of ethical and political philosophy. My questions were all about the way I ought to live. These days I am more interested in how to live the way I ought.
Most of my problems aren’t caused by doing what I shouldn’t, but by my lack of knowledge about how to live. Luckily, I’ve found tons of advice on how to make money, adopt healthy habits, keep focused, remember my obligations, drop bad habits, get organized, and stay happy.

Matt, this looks great! I cannot wait to have some free time to check out your writings.
Cheers,
Melissa
I like your perspective. I browsed through your first blog.
Very inspiring. I just started a blog, where I want to convey so much, it’s nice to find those who have went before me.
Here’s to the path!
